Adalia Fae Smith is a dancer, choreographer and performance artist based in Montréal.
She makes her own pieces — Andy in the Sky, Cherry Void, In Our Image — choreographing and directing them, and designing the sets they are performed in.
She also dances in other people's work: in choreography by Brie Ana Laboucane, Fathom and Spring Ephemeral, and as an interpreter in Multitud by Tamara Cubas. Her work has been projected at Place des Arts and performed on the Grove stage at Shambhala.
The same practice runs into painting and film — beeswax, oil and found objects on wood panel, and live performance for the camera, including river butoh on the Saint Lawrence for Amer Rashid's film.
Curation is part of the practice too: she works with the same small group of collaborators from piece to piece — Isaac Smeele on video and editing, Brie Ana Laboucane on choreography, and the dancers who carry the work.
